The Foundation Support for Development (Stiftelsen Stöd för Utveckling) is a Swedish Foundation with the purpose of improving the living conditions of people living in poverty in developing countries and marginalised persons in Sweden. The Foundation, which was started in 2009, is politically independent and non-religious.
The Foundation Support for Development achieves its goals by financing the activities of efficient and transparent non-profit organisations working for poverty alleviation, respect human rights and support sustainable livelihoods, protection of the environment and climate adaptation/mitigation. All activities supported shall be based on the principle of the equal value of all people, and shall promote gender equality, democratic values, environmental protection and sustainable approaches for people and the planet. The Foundation does not accept any forms of discrimination or corruption.
The Foundation Support for Development promotes effective and efficient approaches for people cantered development, resulting in measurable impact and concrete improvements for the poor. Currently, the Foundation finances activities in Guatemala, Zambia and Sweden. Activities supported by the Foundation are carefully monitored, evaluated and audited.
The Foundation is managed by a Board of five members representing expertise and long experience in business development, finance as well as in sustainable development and development cooperation.
It is administered by the SEB Bank in Göteborg /Gothenburg Sweden and has the operation base and office in Stockholm. The activities and the financial statements of the Foundation are audited annually by the External Auditor.
The Foundation has a zero tolerance to corruption and acts according to the principles of never accept, always prevent, inform and take action in relation to corruption. Corruption is defined broadly as an abuse/misuse of trust, power or position for improper gain for a person, organisation, private company or other. Corruption can take many forms and includes among others, bribery, kickbacks, illegal gratuities, extortion, sextortion, facilitation payments, embezzlement, fraud, theft, favouritism and nepotism and conflicts of interest.
